The first season of “The Morning Show” ended with a bang, or, actually, two of them. (Spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen the show.) After their coworker dies of an overdose in the wake of sexual misconduct covered up by toxic workplace culture, UBA newscasters Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon expose the truth on-air before their live feed cuts off. In the post-#MeToo pop culture climate, that’s a bold way to end a season of TV.

What will be the blowback be for Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson after they’ve unveiled the truth about UBA’s workplace environment to their audience? “The Morning Show” is Aniston and Witherspoon’s show, so no surprise they’ll be back for season two. Also returning to the cast are Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, reprising their roles as disgraced executive producer Chip Black and network head Cory Ellison. Anchors Karen Pittman, Nestor Carbonell, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, and Janina Gavankar are also returning for season two. So too are Steve Carell, whose Mitch Kessler got fired in the wake of sexual abuse allegations in the show’s opening episodes, and Tom Irwin as UBA president Fred Micklen.

Julianna Margulies leads new cast members for the show as new UBA anchor Laura Peterson, who becomes a mentor of sorts for Witherspoon’s Jackson. Greta Lee, Holland Taylor, Valeria Golino, Tara Karsian, and Ruairi O’Connor also join the cast this season.
Season 1 of “The Morning Show” didn’t exactly win over critics. However, Jennifer Aniston snagged a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her performance last season. Will she live up to that performance this season? Audiences find out on September 17, when Season 2 of “The Morning Show” premieres exclusively on AppleTV+.
