…and it just keeps getting better and better.
As if the cast for “Gangster Squad” couldn’t be any more stuffed with top shelf, along comes another name to bolster the roster even further. Mirielle Enos, one of the stars of the AMC series “The Killing,” continues her run at Hollywood coming on board the film to play police offer Josh Brolin‘s pregnant wife. She joins Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Holt McCallany, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick and Frank Grillo in the gangland tale focusing on a specialized L.A.P.D. unit set up in the ‘40s to fight East Coast gangster Mickey Cohen and his growing footprint in the city. Lensing will take place later this year, and while there is still somewhat surprisingly no release date pegged, we’d wager we’ll see it late in 2012.
Enos has already bagged another high profile role, playing Brad Pitt‘s wife in “World War Z.” You couldn’t really ask for better exposure and it looks like with just two movies, Enos will be working with every major leading man in Hollywood this summer. Hope she gives her agent something extra nice at Christmas. [THR]
I hope Ruben Fleischer succeeds here, but I don\’t know. Seems like a big jump forward for him and a tremendous leap of faith for WB. There\’s a great cast and apparently a great screenplay, but it\’s still going to come down to the director. I wonder what his winning pitch was. Anyway, wish him well.
With this cast, with this director and script why have i got a feeling this will be one of THE films of 2012 let alone of this decade.
This could be something really, really special.
