The last time Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn teamed up was for 2005’s “Wedding Crashers,” and since then there have been few films they've done individually that matched that effort comedically. But, the two actors are reuniting for Shawn Levy’s “The Internship,” with the pair playing old-school salesmen that find themselves unemployed and, in an attempt to reinvent themselves, take internships at a major dotcom company. Although the premise sounds rather generic, some interesting names have been added to the Vaughn-scripted film.
“The Daily Show” correspondent Aasif Mandvi is playing the head of the internship program Vaughn and Wilson find themselves in, and given Mandvi’s previous appearances on the fake news show, he definitely has what it takes to hold his own opposite the two stars. Meanwhile, rising comedian and host of "The Eric Andre Show" on Adult Swim — you guessed it, Eric Andre — will play an advisor/mentor to the duo, marking the funnyman's first major movie gig. Also making a cameo appearance will be John Goodman — who was last seen flexing his comedic muscles in an insane arc on the third season of “Community” — as the “ultimate boss." Don’t be too disappointed though because we’ll be seeing a lot more of the actor in the coming months in Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” Robert Zemeckis’ “Flight” and the Coen Brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis.”
"The Internship" is now filming and will hit theaters next year. [Deadline/Variety]
