So “Interstellar” is now shooting up in Canada (eh!), and of course, there are no specifics on the plot, because that’s just how Christopher Nolan rolls. However, any morsels that do leak out will be dissected and discussed and perhaps blown out of proportion until Nolan decides to lift the sheet, and it can get a bit silly. But it’s Friday, a long weekend is coming up, so why not waste a few minutes puzzling out this new bit of intel. Please note there may be spoilers ahead.
What we do know thus far is that the movie involves a bunch of beautiful Hollywood people — Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo and Matt Damon — traveling through a wormhole. But it could it be that Nolan’s film is basically the $200 million dollar version of “At Any Price“?
According to the Ford Macleod Gazette (located in Alberta, where the movie is shooting, so not just some random story), they describe the plot thusly: “Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.”
“The Corn Stalk Rises“? Who knows what to make of this, and remember Nolan (and his team) tend to only reveal what they want to, so this could total subterfuge, a small point in a bigger story. Or maybe, “Interstellar” is basically “2001: A Corn Odyssey.” Thoughts, opinions? You know where to leave ’em…
"When the Earth is … ashes, then you have my permission to RYE."
Single most visionary director working today. I find it hilarious when someone makes up a rumor about his movie and some people virtually stampede to believe it.
Yes, this movie is really a remake of Children of the Corn.
looking at the comments below…does anyone understand the concept of sarcasm??
Why corn? Doesnât seem like the most resilient crop in existence? Why not GMO chickpeas which can withstand far higher temperatures than corn?
Also as mention before they can create such advance space travel technology but not artificial biotopes or heat-resistant crops, how warm is in the future, an average temperature of 65 °C?
The "toll" climate blame has taken? Seriously?
As long as science has chosen to only agree it "COULD" happen you believers can't say it will happen otherwise it would be fear mongering and unscientific.
Science Agrees: "Climate change is real and is happening and could lead to unstoppable warming."
NEVER have they said anything more than "could" nor said any crisis WILL happen or is inevitable or eventual and it's been 28 years now of a "maybe" consensus.
You remaining doomers can only say it could happen and not ever say it "will happen. Don't forget that unless science suddenly agrees it is an unavoidable crisis this 'maybe" crisis is doomed to be unsustainable.
Can't wait for this to be shit and get Nolan of his high horse, or rather be dragged down from the oversized pedestal his fanboys have built for him. I can hear him now, fucking just standing there, tweaking his imaginary moustache going "I am so clever. Hey everybody, look how clever I am!"
I hate how Hollywood tries to glom onto the glamour of the Midwest! First Star Trek (which everyone knows was about Iowa) and now this.
Sorcerer restoration review please.
Utterly unlikely to the premise, and DG spells what's so silly about it: "They can travel to space and through wormholes but they can't genetically engineer food?"
Anne Hathaway as the corn
They can travel to space and through wormholes but they can't genetically engineer food?
You know how firm a hold a director has over the public's imagination when minor bits of the movie get pulled up and misinterpreted like this undoubtedly will. A tribute, really.
I've read the script (potentially SPOILERS);
Its not a film about corn. The declining agriculture is there though – but the film is not really about that.
I remember last time when the rumored Inception plot was leaked and everyone denied it as being farfetched and stupid, but sure enough it ended up being the plot.
$500 says Matt Damon is playing his character from "The Informant!"
