Debuting last year, “The Chi” is a series that took many people by surprise. Focusing on the lives of folks living in the Southside of Chicago, the series took an honest and bold look at the day-to-day struggle of folks in one of the largest cities in the country. The first season earned rave reviews and quickly became one of the best series on TV. And in 2019, it looks like “The Chi” isn’t losing its step at all.

The new trailer for the second season of “The Chi” doesn’t give away much of the plot of the series, and honestly, that would be difficult to do in the span of a minute and a half. With various characters, perfectly performed, the trailer just focused on the young character Kevin as he describes the relatively innocent dreams he has, contrasted with the harsh life he lives in Chicago.
“The Chi” was chosen as one of our best TV series of 2018, and for good reason. The series is the brainchild of breakout actor and creator Lena Waithe, who turned heads with her contributions to the Netflix series “Master of None.” Combined with rapper Common, the duo has crafted one of the most truthful looks at inner-city living to ever grace your TV screen (or whatever screen you watch shows on nowadays).
“The Chi” stars Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Tiffany Boone, and Armando Riesco.
Showtime will premiere the second season of “The Chi” on April 7.
Here’s the synopsis:
Created and executive produced by Emmy winner Lena Waithe (Master of None) and executive produced by Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Common (Selma), THE CHI is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption.
