Amazon Prime Video is pleased with the performance of the first two seasons of “The Boys.” Even if the streamer weren’t already willing to say so publicly, it would be evident by the fact that not only is the show returning for Season 3, but Amazon is in the middle of working on the first live-action spinoff series. Not only that, apparently, the streamer is almost ready to release an animated ‘Boys’ anthology series titled “The Boys: Diabolical.”

Over the weekend, Amazon Prime Video released a little teaser for the upcoming series, “The Boys: Diabolical.” And by the teaser, what I mean is that it’s a video of ‘Boys’ star Keith Urban talking about how the streamer is releasing a “diabolical” animated series with episodes conceived by an A-list group of talented folks. This is, of course, a direct result of the popularity of the series and the connections forged by producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
For those unaware, “The Boys” tells the story of a superhero universe where the most extensive team of heroes is owned and run by the biggest company on the planet, Vought. Basically, imagine a world where the Avengers are real, and Disney manages them. Same idea. In “The Boys,” the heroes are vain, selfish, and sometimes evil. So, there’s a rogue group of anti-heroes, dubbed The Boys, who make it their mission to take on the heroes and make them pay for their misgivings.
So, who is working on episodes of ‘Diabolical?’ According to Amazon, you can expect folks such as Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer, and Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland, and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler to all work on episodes. Obviously, of those names, there is a good mixture of big A-list names and animation veterans. Also, for comic book nerds, like myself, Garth Ennis is getting a chance to craft an episode. Ennis is the co-creator of “The Boys” comic book series and is a welcome addition to the crew of ‘Diabolical.’
A release date for the animated anthology series “The Boys: Diabolical” isn’t known at this time. However, in the teaser, Urban said to expect it in early 2022. You can watch the teaser below:
