Written and directed by Chris Rock, his latest feature “Top Five” launched a bidding war out of the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year. With good reason, because it’s really f*cking funny. But it’s also sharp and insightful too. “Top Five" "delivers an outrageous and sometimes wicked good time, and it does the primary job of entertaining with flying colors, while also delivering something genuinely compelling if you choose to dig beyond the broad array of laughs,” stated our review from TIFF.
In the film, Rock plays a successful comedian whose life is at an intersection. His fiancée (Gabrielle Union) wants him to help her with her reality show, while his agent (Kevin Hart) just wants him to make his next blockbuster. Meanwhile, the comedian has a new drama on the Haitian revolution opening in theaters, but can’t seem to find an audience for the film, and a journalist (Rosario Dawson) tags along during one hectic day trying to write a profile about him. Phew!
The movie also boasts an all-star ensemble of friends and comedians like JB Smoove, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm, and Michael Che, to name a few.
Three new clips have arrived, and check your speakers because they’re not necessarily NSFW, but f-bombs do fly (so does the funny). “Top Five” opens in theaters this Friday. Watch the clips below.
