Little details and whispers have come our way over the past few weeks, but like anything regarding Terry Gilliam‘s forever troubled “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” it seemed too good to be true – and even talking about it would curse the project. But Indiewire reveals that, believe it or not, the project is filming. Right now. Really.
Production company Entre Chien & Loup reveals that Jonathan Pryce has replaced the late John Hurt in the movie, with the cast rounded out by Adam Driver, Olga Kurylenko, Joana Ribeiro, and Stellan Skarsgard. The story, (last we heard – who knows if it’s been tweaked since) follows an arrogant publicist returning to the village where he shot his student film adaptation of “Don Quixote”. He discovers the terrible effect his project had on the town, leading to an unlikely adventure. Not much is known about the supporting roles, but Kurylenko recently told WWD, “I play Jacqui. She’s hard to describe….She’s a girl who likes to cause trouble.”

Gilliam himself, who is usually quite open about what he’s up to, has remained mum on social media about ‘Quixote,’ perhaps not ready to say anything this time until the film is in the can – lest he have to explain himself (again) should it fall apart. But we really hope it doesn’t, and that he can finally take this cinematic albatross off his neck.
Jonathan Pryce is fine, but I wish they had cast a veteran Spanish actor as Don Quixote.
ironically he worked on another troubled production.. Dark Blood with river phoenix
Holy shit. I was sure I’d read a “Terry Gilliam has passed away” headline before this one.
one less polanski supporter to worry about
Huh?
terry gilliam is a polanski supporter
Okay, but what does that have to do with Don Quixote?
