Got a Tip?

Terry Gilliam Casts Unknowns In His Short Film ‘The Wholly Family’

Shooting started this week on Terry Gilliam‘s mysterious short “The Wholly Family” (which may be changing titles before all is said and done) and the cast for the film has been revealed: don’t worry if you never heard of them.

Cristiana Capotondi (who is apparently kind of a big deal in Italy; pictured above), Douglas Dean, Nicolas Connolly and Sergio Solli are among the cast of the film. The project boasts an original script by Gilliam and is being sponsored by pasta company Garofalo as part of an annual series of films about Naples, where it is being shot on location. Gilliam regulars, cinematographer Nicola Pecorini and costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, will be collaborating once again with the director, for the shoot that will take about a week. Plot details are non-existent, but according to Bleeding Cool, it will thematically tackle “the love and the frustration that will be fostered in a family.”

No word yet on when or where this might premiere, but since it’s part and parcel of a pasta company promotion, it will probably bow in Italy first before making the rounds or going online. We’re cautiously curious and optimistic about this one and just hope it’s far, far better than “The Legend Of Hallowdega.”
