Teresa Palmer has unveiled plans to join Joel Edgerton in fellow Australian Kieran Darcy-Smith’s forthcoming directorial debut, psychological thriller “Say Nothing.”
“Joel Edgerton and I are attached to it. It’ll be exciting to work back in Sydney,” Palmer tells The Herald Sun, via Moviehole. “I love hanging out with him. It’ll be nice.”
The exciting teaming is more or less a reunion, as the talent involved are all associated with the collaborative group known as Blue Tongue Films — responsible for films such as Nash Edgerton’s neo-noir-thriller ‘The Square,” Spencer Susser’s dark comedy “Hesher,” and David Michod’s critically acclaimed crime-family-drama “Animal Kingdom.”
Darcy-Smith previously co-directed several shorts with Nash and has also had small acting roles in most of the group’s films including Edgerton and Michod’s latest efforts. Palmer, meanwhile, happens to be Nash’s partner and most recently starred in his music video for Empire Of The Sun’s “Half Mast,” while Joel has been a staple on Australian television and cinema for years, had an electric performance in “Animal Kingdom” and is set for a breakout leading role in “The Thing” prequel.
“Say Nothing” was co-scripted by Darcy-Smith himself alongside Felicity Price with Hopscotch Films scheduled to distribute the pic in Australia. It earned part of a $15 million grant from Screen Australia earlier this year where the full synopsis was unveiled;
Four friends lose themselves in a carefree South-East Asian holiday. Only three come back. Dave and Alice return home to their young family desperate for answers about Jeremy’s mysterious disappearance. When Alice’s sister Steph returns not long after, a nasty secret is revealed about the night her boyfriend went missing. But it is only the first of many. Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia?
Blue Tongue Films have been instrumental in the latest renaissance, so to speak, in Australian cinema with this newest project hopefully building on the success of the solid work so far. Shooting is set to begin this November.
