It looks like Terence Davies is taking a page from the book of another director with the same first name: Terrence Malick. The helmer, who generally sees multiple year gaps between projects is moving quickly on his post-"The Deep Blue Sea" slate. He's already lined up his long developing take on the Scottish literature classic "Sunset Song" to be his next film, and now another book adaptation has grabbed his attention.
Davies will get behind the camera for the big screen version of Richard McCann's celebrated novel "Mother Of Sorrows." The features a handful of interconnected stories, all recounting the tough and tragic life of two gay brothers, growing up in the '50s, and where they lives go after that, as the encounter tragedy and bittersweet moments of grace, in a dark journey that at times includes death and drug addiction. It's intriguing territory for the helmer, and the project has already earned development funds from EU Media to get the ball rolling.
So it looks like we certainly won't be lacking in Davies projects for the next few years, which is not a bad thing at all. No word yet on who will star in "Sunet Song" but with filming not slated to start until the end of this year or early in 2013, there's still lots of time to sort that out. [Variety]
