“Werner Herzog – Radical Dreamer”
We all know that Werner Herzog is a legend and defies every aspect of this business. To celebrate him and his eightieth birthday, Thomas von Steinaecker’s documentary “Werner Herzog – Radical Dreamer” will premiere at Telluride. The film is a comprehensive portrait of one of the world’s most influential artists. The film features Herzog himself, as well as Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Chloe Zhao, and Carl Weathers, among others.
“Bones And All”
Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (“Suspiria”) tackles cannibalism, but it’s a film about outsiders and misfits living on the fringes of society, just trying to live and love when their dark past catches up with them. The film stars Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell, with a great supporting cast that includes Michael Stuhlbarg, André Holland, Chloë Sevigny, and David Gordon-Green. Jessica Harper, Jake Horowitz, and Mark Ryland. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross score the film.
“Sr.”
Robert Downey Sr. served in the Army, played minor-league baseball, and was an off-broadway playwright before making a name for himself in Hollywood as an actor, writer, and director. Downey Sr., best known for his take-no-prisoners comedy, passed away in his sleep last year at the age of 85. The film, “Sr.”, is both an elegy for the icon and a testament to his creative spirit. An emotional depiction of a father-son bond, Robert Downey Jr. collaborated with documentarian Chris Smith to tell his father’s story.
“Theater of Thought”
Werner Herzog is known for capturing people being pushed to the extreme or experiencing extreme landscapes. He’s explored every content on the planet, but in his new film “Theatre of Thought,” he explores a more mysterious landscape than he’s ever been– the human brain. Herzog teams up with Scientist Rafael Yuste as they road trip to meet an array of researchers to discuss the innermost workings of the human brain.
