Got a Tip?

‘She-Hulk’: Tatiana Maslany Denies Being Cast In Marvel’s Upcoming Superhero Series

It hasn’t even been one full month since Tatiana Maslany was reportedly cast in the lead role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “She-Hulk” streaming series. But even though the news has barely had time to cool off, it appears that the actress at the center of it is ready to deny its validity.

Speaking to The Sudbury Star, Maslany was asked about her new role as the big green superhero and she gave some surprising responses. Namely, she not only didn’t answer any questions about the “She-Hulk” series, but she actually denied that she’s involved in any way.

“That actually isn’t a real thing and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand,” she explained. “It’s totally not — I’ve been connected to these things in the past and press has gotten onto it, but it’s not actually a thing, unfortunately.”

Maslany added, “Yeah, I don’t know how these things get — I don’t know, I don’t know. You know better; I have no idea. [Laughs.]”

Now, there are really only two ways to read into something like this. First, and most obvious, is that Maslany isn’t lying and that she’s not actually attached to the “She-Hulk” series. We’ve seen this before when reports will come out confirming that an actor is attached to a project and it eventually is revealed to be premature and not true.

Of course, there’s the second theory, which is that Maslany is just doing what other Marvel actors do and that’s denying everything. We all know that Marvel Studios is all about being secretive with their projects, which is something that actors have joked about for a decade now. It could just be that Maslany is afraid to confirm anything until Marvel Studios is willing to confirm it.

That said, the “She-Hulk” announcement was made at a similar time to the “Ms. Marvel” casting. And in the case of “Ms. Marvel,” not only were other actors congratulating Iman Vellani on landing the role, the young actress took to social media to confirm that it’s true. All of that without official word from Marvel Studios. So, maybe this is a case of Maslany just not being attached (yet) and she’s just covering her bases.

Ultimately, we’ll find out soon enough, as it’s expected that “She-Hulk” will begin production sometime in 2021. We’ll just have to wait and see.
