Got a Tip?

‘T2: Trainspotting’ Soundtrack Includes Iggy Pop, Wolf Alice, Underworld, And More

As iconic as Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie — and arguably more so — was the music that powered Danny Boyle‘s zeitgeist capturing “Trainspotting.” It launched the mass commercialization of Iggy Pop‘s “Lust For Life,” and for a few years there it seems you couldn’t turn around without bumping into the song, while Underworld‘s “Born Slippy” went from the clubs and into the homes of kids everywhere. And the sequel brings back those two artists, and mixes them up with both classic jams and tunes for a new generation.

The soundtrack details for “T2: Trainspotting” were accidentally leaked on Amazon, before being yanked, but author Irvine Welsh has pretty much confirmed the tracklist. So what will be coming for your ears? Well, “Lust For Life” is back, though in a remix by The Prodigy, which hopefully isn’t as regrettable as that sounds. Meanwhile, Underworld offer “Slow Slippy” which is presumably a new take on that aforementioned song. New school indie rockers Wolf Alice and rappers Young Fathers make appearances, while Queen, Blondie and Frankie Goes To Hollywood offer throwback classics.

“T2: Trainspotting” soundtrack arrives on January 27th, the same day the film opens in the U.K. The sequel lands stateside on March 10th. [FACT]t2tracklist1-500x413t2-trainspotting-1 t2-trainspotting-4 t2-trainspotting-5t2-trainspotting-2 t2-trainspotting-3
