It’s always nice to see the standouts from film festivals getting their time to shine. And in the case of the drama, “Swallow,” it’ll be almost a year since the film premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival to its upcoming debut in theaters. But no matter how long it’s been since “Swallow’s” debut, it’s a joy that audiences will finally get to watch one of our favorites from this year’s festival circuit.
As seen in the new trailer for “Swallow,” the film follows the story of a housewife (Haley Bennett) who becomes the source of drama in her marriage when it’s revealed that she suffers from the rare psychological disorder known as pica. The illness compels the young woman to try to inject inedible objects she finds laying around. However, even though this brings her joy, the disorder leads to some extremely unpleasant situations when her in-laws and husband find out.

We caught “Swallow” when it played at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. In our review, we said, “…the bracing ‘Swallow’ might make you faint, whether because you can’t watch Haley Bennett gulp down a thumbtack or because you’re swooning over its ingenuity. Or both.”
Joining Bennett in the cast are Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche, and Denis O’Hare. The film is written and directed by Carlo Mirabella-Davis, marking the filmmaker’s feature film directorial debut.
