‘Suburra’ Trailer & Clips: Corruption Is Everywhere In Netflix’s First Italian Original Series

If there isn’t enough political scandal happening right here at home for you, then perhaps you’ll want to check out “Suburra,” Netflix’s first Italian original series from the same production company behind “Gomorrah.” Based on Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini’s novel and the Netflix film of the same name about a real scandal that emerged recently in Rome, “Suburra” continues the story of the corrupt forces in the Italian capital and the battle over a seaside town developed into a gambling paradise. Here’s the official synopsis:

Church, State, Family. Nothing is sacred anymore. Suburra: The Series is a crime thriller set in Rome which describes how the Church, the State and organized crime collide and blur the lines between the legal and the illicit in their savage quest for power. At the heart of the story, we find three young men: Numero 8, Spadino and Lele, with different backgrounds, ambitions and passions, who will have to forge alliances to realize their deepest desires. Based on the novel of the same name but set several years earlier, Suburra: The Series is full of action, drama and crime, cramming 20 days of turmoil into 10 powerful episodes.

A coproduction between Netflix and Rai, Italy’s national public broadcasting company, “Suburra” is directed by Michele Placido (“Crime Novel”), Andrea Molaioli (“The Girl by the Lake”) and Giuseppe Capotondi (“The Double Hour”). It is written by Daniele Cesarano and Barbara Petronio with Ezio Abbate, Fabrizio Bettelli and Nicola Guaglianone, and stars an entirely Italian cast.
