Got a Tip?

Subjects Of ‘Tickled’ Crash Q&A Screening Of Acclaimed Documentary To Confront Filmmakers

Have you seen “Tickled” yet? If not, you should: it’s one of the best documentaries of the year, a film that tells a story that’s truly stranger than fiction, and one that has to be seen to be believed (read our review here). It’s best experienced knowing as little as possible, but broadly speaking, it sees Australian journalist David Farrier, and his co-director Dylan Reeve, attempt to look into the seemingly quirky story of Competitive Endurance Tickling websites, only to find a surprisingly deep and dark machine behind them.

And somehow, with the film’s release this past weekend, the story’s gotten even stranger. If you have seen the film, you’ll recognize the name David D’Amato as being a key part of the story, and D’Amato himself turned up at the first night of the movie at a Q&A screening with the filmmakers present. For the uninitiated, it’s a bit like going to a screening of “Bowling For Columbine” and having the entire NRA try to crash your Q&A, and it’s almost as scary as that.

Kevin Clarke, who is also featured in the film, actually turned up beforehand and confronted the filmmakers as well, and it’s all been captured on video by the film’s distributors Magnolia Pictures, making the weirdest story of the year even weirder. Take a look at video and transcript below, and check out “Tickled” as soon as you can. [Via Slashfilm]
