There are annual traditions that must be honored, and of them is Steven Soderbergh‘s yearly list of everything he watched and read. Once again, the filmmaker has delivered his rundown of everything that went past his eyeballs across the past twelve months, and as always, it will leave you feeling woefully underproductive.
2017 started on a curious note for Soderbergh, watching “Passengers” and that action comedy you forgot about already, “Keeping Up With The Joneses.” We’ll forgive those lapses and just assume he was hungover or possibly still drunk from the night before. Other interesting notes: he’s a big fan of “Twin Peaks” episode eight; two days after he started shooting his upcoming “Unsane” he found the time to watch “A Cure For Wellness” and a cut of “Ocean’s Eight“; he’s watched a lot of cuts of “Ocean’s Eight.”
Meanwhile, he still remains a big fan of “Dateline” and “48 Hrs” (just like my parents!) and he wound down the year with some great pics like “Day Of The Jackal,” “All The President’s Men,” “The Third Man,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Memento,” “Vertigo” and “The Parallax View.” Conspiracy thriller next? Weirdly, he doesn’t seem to have any viewings of his app/mini-series “Mosaic” anywhere — not even on last year’s list. Sods, have you watched it?

Soderbergh produced KEEPING UP WITH THE JONSES director Greg Mottola’s first movie THE DAYTRIPPERS.
How about the insanity that he starts shooting UNSANE on June 1st and on June 15th he watches his first cut of the movie?!!!!
Fascinating that he watched Alien:Covenant but not Blade Runner 2049.
He’s watched Ocean’s 8 so many times because he’s re editing the film because Gary Ross’ cut was a disaster.
