Got a Tip?

Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin Eye ‘Trading Places’ Meets ‘Grumpy Old Men’ Comedy

It looks like old pals, “Saturday Night Live” rivals and Oscar co-hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are going to make another movie together.

While nothing is official just yet, Deadline are reporting that Martin and Baldwin will bring Adam Shankman (“Hairspray,” “Rock Of Ages“) in to direct a comedy that is being described as a cross between “Trading Places” and “Grumpy Old Men.” So yeah, this isn’t exactly going to be sophisticated, but it could still be very funny. And, well, that’s it. There are no details on what the story might entail or production dates or anything like that, but the whole idea apparently came to mind when Shankman was flipping channels a week ago and noticed Martin popping up during Baldwin’s monologue on “Saturday Night Live” and thought, “Hey, those two could do another movie together!” Who says Hollywood has no original ideas?

Of course, Martin and Baldwin previously shared the screen in “It’s Complicated” and the former guested on “30 Rock” as well. But most importantly, Shankman directed the pair when they hosted the Oscars a couple years back. It seems like a no brainer to put them back together even if the concept feels kind of half-assed. No word yet on who while write this thing, but you can watch that opening SNL bit below in case you missed it.
