Got a Tip?

Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson Documentary ‘Bad 25’ Airs On ABC On Thanksgiving

nullDespite having a creative misstep with 2008’s “Miracle At St. Anna,” Spike Lee remains a vibrant voice and has established himself as a top-tier documentary filmmaker with numerous projects over the past decade. And the Brooklyn auteur's next documentary “Bad 25,” which chronicles the creation and impact of Michael Jackson’s seminal 1987 album, has been acquired by the television network ABC for a Thanksgiving airing.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s Bad and Lee has scored incredible access to Jackson’s estate, archives and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album, as well as interviews with the late star’s collaborators and famous fans like Martin Scorsese, ?uestlove, Kanye West and Cee Lo Green. This is a subject that’s obviously near and dear to Lee’s heart so we’re expecting something a cut above the usual music doc.

Before the Thanksgiving airdate, the documentary will hit both the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival in the coming weeks, so we’ll be giving your our verdict shortly. In the meantime, “Red Hook Summer” is expanding this weekend and we’re big fans of the film. [LA Times]
