Got a Tip?

Spike Lee Dumps Talent Agency After ‘Miracle’ Turns Out To Be Box-Office Dud

Probably angered at the piss-poor reception his WWII film, “Miracle At St. Anna” received, Spike Lee has left his Hollywood talent agency of fifteen years.

According to Reuters: “The combative filmmaker jumped to Endeavor from William Morris, three weeks after his World War Two movie “Miracle at St. Anna” opened to just $3.5 million; the Disney release has grossed just $7.5 million to date.”

Ouch. The film at least cost $45 million to make, not counting marketing costs. That one’s never going to recoup. It’s kind of sad cause after years on the fringes, struggling to get the dough for big films (Oprah and African American celebs had to pitch in for “Malcolm X”), Spike finally scored a big mainstream hit with “Inside Man,” and seemed poised for a rebirth, but the dud that was ‘Miracle,’ has surely evaporated any juice he might have accrued. Well, at least there’s “Inside Man 2,” coming.

Endeavor is said to be disappointed as they helped Lee set-up three potential projects, “L.A. Riots” the aforementioned “Inside Man” sequel (both at Universal and Imagine) and “Time Traveler.” Maybe Spike can bounce back again. Lord knows we don’t want to see another budget-like, “Girl 6.”
