Pablo Larrain’s ‘Spencer’ Starring Kristen Stewart As Princess Diana Opens November 5

American actress Kristen Stewart has been returning to the world of awards caliber filmmaking with her upcoming movie “Spencer” focused on the iconic Princess Diana, the British royal that was beloved by the public but her life was cut short in 1997 when the tabloids’ obsession got her killed, leaving behind her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

It’s been announced by Neon and Topic Studios that “Spencer,” directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrin (“Jackie“) and written by British screenwriter Steven Knight (“Locke,” “Peaky Blinders,” “Eastern Promises“), will have a domestic release date of November 5.

The new drama will focus on Diana’s icy relationship with Prince Charles in December 1991 leading up to their divorce.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be a whole lot different.

Joining Stewart among the cast include BAFTA Award nominee Timothy Spall (“Mr. Turner“), Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water“), and Sean Harris (“The Green Knight,” “Mission: Impossible –Fallout,” “Prometheus“).

“Spencer” will debut at the Venice Film Festival and will also screen at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Stewart won’t stop there with artful projects as she is currently shooting David Cronenberg‘s latest pic “Crimes of The Future” in Greece with a call-sheet that consists of names such as Viggo Mortensen (“Eastern Promises“), Lea Seydoux (“No Time To Die,” “The Lobster“), Scott Speedman (“Dark Blue“), and others. The film is expected to have a mix of sci-fi and body horror elements that Cronenberg is best known for.
