Got a Tip?

‘Space Jam’ Sequel Gets On The Court With LeBron James

For years now, LeBron James has had his eye on Hollywood. Way, way back, the basketball superstar was attached to star in the feature film “Ballers” (not related to Dwayne Johnson‘s hit HBO comedy), that would’ve seen him playing himself as the leader of a basketball camp in Las Vegas, where he winds up getting dragged into the lives of attendees. It didn’t happen, but for a while now, he’s been rumored to lead a sequel to Warner Bros. Looney Tunes/Michael Jordan mashup “Space Jam,” but as recently as 2014,  James shot down those rumors. Instead, he got his feet wet last summer with a surprisingly charming turn in Judd Apatow‘s “Trainwreck,” and I guess that was enough for WB to finally give the athlete a starring vehicle.

ESPN Sources Says No ‘Space Jam 2’ Planned; LeBron James Himself Shoots Down Report Too

James will indeed star in “Space Jam 2,” with Justin Lin (“Star Trek Beyond,” “Fast & Furious 6“) in talks to direct, with Andrew Dodge (“Bad Words“) writing the script. No word yet on the plot, but surely it will involve Bugs and the gang, basketball, celebrity cameos, and of course, one big, galactic game. The long developing project is still getting everything together, but let’s hope the original website for the first film never disappears.

No production start date has been revealed, but clearly it’ll have to be off-season.
