What if you could take a simple test and skip the drama-filled rollercoaster that is dubbed “dating?” Would you embrace the test that tells you, without a doubt, who your soulmate is? And how would that change the entirety of humanity? Judging by the trailer for the new AMC anthology series, “Soulmates,” it’s not an entirely good thing at all.

The short trailer for “Soulmates” shows brief glimpses at the lives of a variety of people that have chosen to take the test to find out who they are destined to be with. While we don’t get much in the way of plot, per se, what we do see is that the series touches everything from love and romance to explosions and violence. Needless to say, each episode of the anthology is going to be unique.
The incredible cast for this AMC series includes Malin Akerman, Charlie Heaton, Betsy Brandt, Sarah Snook, Sonya Cassidy, Shamier Anderson, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
“Soulmates” comes from the minds of writers Will Bridges and Brett Goldstein. Bridges is probably best known as a writer for both “Black Mirror” and “Stranger Things,” with the former clearly influencing this series. Bridges, on the other hand, has been a writer for the just-launched “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV+.
AMC clearly has confidence in the six-episode season of “Soulmates,” as the network has already given the greenlight for a second season. That renewal, back in August, came weeks before the first season even begins its run on October 5.
With the short trailer teasing an intriguing story that is both unique and horrifying, along with an incredible cast and the full support of AMC, it’s hard not to get excited about “Soulmates.” You can see the first trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
From AMC Studios, Soulmates is set fifteen years into the future, when science has made a discovery that changes the lives of everyone on the planet – a test that unequivocally tells you who your soulmate is.
