Got a Tip?

Sorry ‘The Avengers 2,’ ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Will Get Quicksilver On The Big Screen First

So, is “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” gonna be the “Where’s Waldo” of comic book movies? Because this is now beyond ridiculous, moving into the surreal. Just to refresh your memory: Charles Xavier, Professor X, Young Magneto, Old Magneto, Beast, Storm, Mystique, Wolverine, Rogue, Shadowcat, Iceman, Colossus, and Blink are all set to appear, along with other roles slated to be played by Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing and Adan Canto. And now, Bryan Singer is throwing another nerd log on the fire, with yet another comic character set to spent five seconds on screen.

Here’s a little mud in your eye “The Avengers 2” — Evan Peters is going to play Quicksilver in ‘Future Past.’ Why? Because we’re sure it’s integral to the story and has nothing to do with Fox wanting to lay claim to the character since it was confirmed he appears in Joss Whedon‘s sequel script along with sibling hero Scarlet Witch. It’s all pretty petty and dumb and frankly, adds another unnecessary layer to this Dagwood sandwich of a movie. Oh, in case it matters Evan Peters (“American Horror Story“) landed the role.

“How can they do that!?” nerds may be crying and asking. Well, both Marvel and Fox have rights to use it some how, though the ball will now be in Whedon’s court as to whether or not he carries on, or ditches Quicksilver since it’s now being utilized elsewhere. That being said, Whedon’s draft was likely to change anyway given it’s still unclear who exactly is returning and in what capacity for “The Avengers 2” as negotiations are ongoing. And remember, early drafts of “The Avengers” had The Wasp before being replaced by Black Widow.

All told, the superhero wars in Hollywood are getting pretty silly. We’ll see what makes it into this movie on July 18, 2014.

  1. Your headline might not necessarily be true. Marvel could easily put a post credit tease in Thor 2 and Captain America 2 is currently shooting for release in April 2014

  3. Guys, all signs point to some crossover happening: Viper in The Wolverine, Quicksilver in Days of Future Past and The Avengers, Scarlet Witch in The Avengers… Fox is consolidating their properties by rebooting Fantastic Four into the same universe as X-Men. Notice how DOFP is fixing the timeline as well… perhaps they're setting themselves up for a partnership? (Because they aren't going to just give Disney the rights).

  4. I'm sure the difference between the two versions of Quicksilver will be that Whedon casts an actor who people will actually be interested in seeing as the character.

  5. Though I'm alarmed by the number of characters in DOFP, it seems to me that Quicksilver belongs in X-Men rather than The Avengers, if it's necessary to choose; he is far more important to the X-Men plot as Magneto's son, than he is as just another Avenger.

  6. LMAO! Total bitch move by Singer! I bet Quicksilver wasn't even in the script until they got wind of Whedon's plans for Avengers 2. And Evan Peters as Pietro of all people? Terrible casting.

And how many freaking charcters are going to be in this thing. It feels like it is going to be a mess all over again like X3.

  7. Here's how Singer broke the news on twitter:

"Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."

So either Singer is a grade-A deuche, or he's basically announcing some sort of crossover.
