Got a Tip?

Warner Bros. Reportedly Won’t Give Zack Snyder Extensive ‘Justice League’ Reshoots With Cast Despite Ask

You thought HBO Max officially announcing the release of the director’s cut of “Justice League” would mean outlets would stop writing about The Snyder Cut? Well, you thought wrong. Zack Snyder and other filmmakers may have tried many, many times to convince the public that the mythical director’s cut was pretty much done, but not only will it take several million dollars to release the complete version of “Justice League,” it also turns out Snyder asked to do additional reshoots, before HBO Max said no.

The report comes from The Wrap, where Heroic Hollywood founder Umberto Gonzalez said while on a podcast that Zack Snyder wouldn’t exactly be able to do everything he wanted to finish his version of the movie. “There’s not going to be any reshoots of any kind with any actors,” Gonzalez said. “It’s just additional dialogue. Here’s something that hasn’t been reported yet: (Snyder) did want to shoot and he wanted to do additional photography but HBO Max said no, that’s not happening. We’ll give you money for post-production, for special effects, for scoring, and even ADR but no reshoots of any kind on this movie.”

This doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. It would be very difficult and expensive to get the cast of “Justice League” together to shoot additional footage, especially before 2021 and under the current quarantine regulations.

There is also Snyder’s own contest from a few months ago, where fans could make their own poster for the Snyder Cut for a chance to win a piece of memorabilia. The contest also included the chance to visit the set and see the reshoots for the director’s cut, so Snyder has at least considered the need for reshoots for a while.

It seems like, though HBO Max did give in and decided to spend even more money on a film that grossed less than “Man of Steel” and barely more than “Thor: The Dark World,” they considered reshoots to be one step too far.
