Got a Tip?

‘Skyfall’ Pair Sam Mendes & John Logan Reteaming For 1800s Vampire Hunting TV Series

nullDespite not yet opening in North America, “Skyfall” is already racking up impressive box office grosses, and with the number one spot all but guaranteed this weekend, you can bet director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan will soon have their pick of projects. While Mendes has already ruled out a return to Bond, he’s re-teaming with Logan to hopefully work some more magic on the small screen.

(Worryingly) described as being ”in the vein of ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,’” Mendes and Logan’s television debut will be “an story origin set in the 1800s London [with] an assortment of fictional literary characters.” So who’ll be appearing in the series (which will be pitched to premium cable networks)? Only Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein have been namechecked so far and they’re apparently teaming up to “hunt for vampires.”

Between "Once Upon A Time" and "Grimm," fictional characters finding new life in reimagined stories seems to be taking off on TV, and this would seem to follow in that spirit. We're trusting the Mendes and Logan will bring a bit more weight to what sounds like a pretty flimsy logline, in a genre (vampires, still?) that seems to be fading. No doubt with these names attached premium cable outlets will certainly be interested.

Let us know in the comments which network you think would make the perfect home for the series and which characters you would like to appear. [Deadline]

  1. Mendes is still open to a new Bond film, so stop lying. It's similar to the situation after Batman Begins when Christopher Nolan wasn't sure if he was ready for a sequel right away. Wait and see.
