Maybe it’s time to say enough already: "24" got a limited series renewal, "The X-Files" and "Twin Peaks" are both set to return, and now, another show is returning probably for no other reason than the respective rights holders still have this sitting around and it’s a bit cheaper than producing something from scratch.
And so, over at NBC, they are reviving the ’90s sitcom "Coach," and it will actually be a sequel series. Craig T. Nelson is back in the titular role, but there’s a bit of a twist. Here’s the synopsis from EW: Coach Hayden Fox, in the present day, has retired from coaching. He is called back to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy league school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team. As concepts go, it’s not a bad one, but we’re not sure anybody was asking for this either. Regardless, NBC is confident audiences will return for the once popular show, and has ordered thirteen episodes.
Meanwhile, Fox is booting up "Alien Nation," but not the critically acclaimed TV series which ran a single season, and earned a small, but devoted following. Instead, it will be the 1988 movie starring James Caan and Mandy Patinkin that inspired the show. THR reports that Art Marcum and Matt Holloway ("Iron Man") will write the script that will provide a new take on the futuristic story where aliens and humans live together in semi harmony, and an alien officer is paired with a not so welcoming partner. METAPHORS. No word yet on who will direct, but the studio is hoping for something blockbuster-y in the vein of "Planet Of The Apes."
Some of the most fvcked up news I\’ve ever read. Step by Step will be reupped within five years. A TV show based on The Postman will be announced. Based on Crocodile Dundee. A bum rush to the rubbish bins
