Got a Tip?

Shia Labeouf Not Interested In D.J. Caruso’s ‘Y: The Last Man,’ Sam Raimi Was Offered ‘Star Trek’ Helm, Three ‘Bruno’ TV Spots Debut

Despite being forever linked to the role, Shia LaBeouf has revealed that he is not interested in taking up the lead role in D.J. Caruso’s proposed adaptation of “Y: The Last Man” as he feels the protagonist Yorick is too similar to Sam Witwicky in “Transformers.” Right, because his career thus far has been all about diversity, right? Still geeks looking forward to this one are kind of in disappointed shock. [Coming Soon]

Sam Raimi was reportedly offered the director’s chair for the new “Star Trek” franchise before “the [J.J. Abrams] train built up a head of steam.” Meh. [Vulture/The Wrap]

Speaking of, apparently R2D2 makes an Easter egg appearance in Abram’s “Star Trek.” We’re not convinced the screenshot over at ONTD is legit but he’s definitely in there somewhere. [Facebook]

Michael Angarano and Jesse Eisenberg are set to star in “Ceremony,” a comedy which will mark the directorial debut of Max Winkler, son of Henry Winkler (you know, the Fonz). The film centers on a young man (Eisenberg) who falls in love with an older woman and, along with an unwitting friend (Angarano), attempts break up her wedding at a beach town. Jason Reitman is executive producing.Winkler helped write the upcoming Jonah Hill comedy “The Adventurer’s Handbook” and directed the excellent web series “Clark and Michael” with Clark Duke and Michael Cera which we adored. Todd MacFarlane wants Leonardo DiCaprio to lead his “Spawn” reboot whose protagonist won’t be the comic-book character but rather “the guy chasing Spawn.’ MacFarlane further describes the project as a “‘Godfather’-type film.” LOL. Yeah, good fucking luck there. [MTV]

Rob Cohen has ditched the Vin Diesel led “XXX: The Return of Xander Cage” for “Medieval,” a film described by the director as “The Magnificent Seven” in the Middle Ages. McG will also be producing. Heaven help us. [Variety]

Three TV spots for “Brüno” have been unveiled though they mostly feature mostly recycled clips previously in trailers and not that exciting. Is it just us or is “Brüno” loosing steam? A few months ago, especially after SXSW, the fim’s buzz was on fire. Now it’s the sound of slightly cracking embers. [FirstShowing]

  1. He's a nice guy, he's just needed some better business advice/perspective for a LONG time. How those odd rock star action figures have kept him banked for years is beyond me.

I actually picked up an issue of Spawn a few months back and was surprised how good (albeit still not anything like The Godfather) it was.
