With “Ms. Marvel” all wrapped up earlier this month, the next big Marvel show heading to Disney+ will star Emmy-winning actress Tatiana Maslany (“Black Orphan”) as Jennifer Walters in “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.” Walters is the lawyer cousin of Mark Ruffalo’s Dr. Bruce Banner who eventually develops a similar power-set with extreme super strength and agility. A regular human, the character’s comic book origin saw Walters become She-Hulk after a blood transfusion from Banner; it’s unknown how the MCU incarnation will get her powers.
‘She-Hulk’: Tatiana Maslany Says Her Character Is The “Antithesis Of Most Superhero Narratives”
Given the show arrives next month, it was a given that “She-Hulk” would have a presence at Marvel’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, and the studio gave some insight on the origin series along with sharing a new trailer.
Speaking of Banner, we already have seen with the teaser trailer that Banner, who has a role in the streaming series, has seemingly got control over his Hulk persona after being Professor Hulk in “Avengers: Endgame,” a combination of the two without the need of transforming and seems to be a mentor of sorts to Maslany’s Walters.
The first trailer also confirmed the return of Tim Roth as former U.S. soldier Emil Blonsky – aka The Abomination from “The Incredible Hulk” – and newly added British actress Jameela Jamil (“The Good Place”) in the striking role of Titania, an established super-strong villain from the comics.
In the comics, Walters also has ties to the “Fantastic Four,” even becoming part of the roster. There is also a strong possibility for the appearance of Charlie Cox’s fellow defense lawyer Matt Murdoc, given the “Daredevil” series is getting revived by Marvel.
The show is being played up as a workplace comedy, and we’ll see how far “She-Hulk” leans into that genre as it is set to debut on August 17 on Disney+. Today at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed that Phase 4 will end with “She-Hulk,” so that’ll be the official last series of that phase. Watch the new trailer below.
