Got a Tip?

‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ Trailer: It’s All About Family In The Sequel [Comic-Con]

In recent years, Warner Bros. has been trying to navigate and move past the Zack Snyder era, and while something like “Shazam!” is directly set in a world where the events of “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” have taken place. The film was more tongue-in-cheek than I think you’ll see with other DC films. Still, it totally works given the teenage characters in the driver’s seat as Asher Angel’s Billy Batson can transform into an adult man superhero avatar played by Zachary Levi

A sequel, “Shazam! Fury of The Gods,” is on the horizon with David F. Sandberg back in the director’s chair, and the studio has brought the film to San Diego Comic-Con to help give audiences a glimpse of the movie.

Also returning are Jack Dylan Glazer, Adam Brody, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, and D.J, Cotrona, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews. New additions to the cast for the sequel include Oscar-winning British Helen Mirren (“The Queen,” “Fast 9”) in the role of Hespera, while Lucy Liu (“Kill Bill”) has taken the part of Kalypso, the Deity Sisters. “West Side Story” breakout actress Rachel Zegler has a mysterious role in the superhero pic and recently wrapped work on Disney’s live-action “Snow White” movie opposite Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”).

Here’s the official synopsis:

From New Line Cinema comes “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson, who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

There is still a question of when/where we’ll see Batson Have his big crossover with characters like Superman (a new film is said to be a priority) and Dwayne Johnson’sBlack Adam,” as there had been chatter about these following two films might not feature those two magical characters coming to blows until “Shazam! 3” or “Black Adam 2.”

“Fury of The Gods” recently took the release date of December 21, which means it’ll go head-to-head against James Cameron’sAvatar: The Way of Water” in its second weekend, which could be problematic for it. In the meantime, watch the new trailer below.
