What’s more, a cast has been named Tony Leung as the real Mandarin, Awkwafina in the movie and an unknown from Toronto named Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. Leung, as many know, often works with Wong Kar-Wai and is a major celebrity in China. His casting is a big coup.

Chinese-American writer Dave Callaham has been hired to adapt the superhero for the big screen. Kevin also shared with the audience the casting of Awkwafina in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Then, Kevin revealed to the Hall H audience that celebrated Chinese actor Tony Leung will play the real Mandarin.

That’s all that was revealed for now, but Marvel’s first Asian lead superhero with his own movie — and an unknown actor in the lead role– is enormous. Leung’s participation will be blowing the minds of cinephiles that loved him in films like “The Grandmaster” and “In The Mood For Love” among many others.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will be in theaters on February 12, 2021.
