Not longer after his gig hosting the Oscars this year — an effort which produced mixed results, at best — Seth MacFarlane was asked on Twitter if he would like to do it again, to which he replied, “No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though.” But regardless, it looks like the Academy want him back.
JustJared is reporting that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron — who were behind the MacFarlane Oscar show, and were recently rehired for next year’s ceremonies — have asked MacFarlane to return in 2014. No matter what you might have thought about the show this year, the bottom line is the ever precious ratings were up, which means the gambit to go edgy and skew a bit young with MacFarlane paid off. That being said, having already said he won’t do it, we we presume that unless he’s given a lot more creative flexibility (the Oscar show tends to be rigorously micro-managed) it’s not likely to happen.
So we’ll wait to see how this plays out — MacFarlane apparently has a couple of weeks to decide and mull it over — but until then, if Zadan and Meron need some fresh idea, we have five suggestions right here on who would be great Oscar hosts.
YAY!!! Seth is the ONLY reason to watch the Oscars!!! Now I can watch the Oscars for the second time :))))
Nooo. Screw this guy. Bring on Steve Martin or Ferrell or Jack Black. y'know someone funny.
Good Lord, why?
Jeez. Worst show in recent memory and they rehired the producers? Couldn't the ratings spike have been because people actually watched last year's nominated movies? Hopefully they won't shamelessly mention what a masterpiece "Chicago" is with every opportunity again.
