Sure, Sebastian Stan is a household name thanks to his role as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the actor has yet to break out in non-Marvel roles in the same way that his co-stars have. But considering he’s done great work in films like “Endings, Beginnings,” “Destroyer,” and, of course, “I, Tonya,” the Stan revolution seems to be an inevitability. Perhaps it’ll begin with the upcoming film, “Fresh.”
According to Deadline, Stan is set to star opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones in the upcoming film, “Fresh,” which is set to be produced by Hyperobject Industries’ Adam McKay and Kevin Messick and directed by Mimi Cave. The plot of the film is being kept under wraps but Deadline refers to “Fresh” as a “social thriller.” The script is written by Lauryn Kahn.
As mentioned, Stan is pretty well known amongst film fans, especially those that love themselves some ‘Avengers’ films. However, for those reading this website, his work in the aforementioned dramas is really where he shines. He also has a role in the upcoming spy film, “The 355.”
Edgar-Jones, on the other hand, is still a relative unknown that is not quite yet a household name. Her biggest role is in the recent Hulu miniseries, “Normal People,” which turned out to be a hit for the streaming service. She’s definitely on the verge of breaking out in a big way.
“Fresh” marks the feature directorial debut for Cave. The filmmaker is an accomplished music video director, helming clips for artists such as Vance Joy, Danny Brown, Sleigh Bells, and Sylvan Esso. Teaming up with some great young actors and a producer like Adam McKay is a pretty awesome way to kick off your feature career, huh?
The release date for “Fresh” is still unknown.
