For years, author Alvin Schwartz created an entire world of terror and thrills with his haunting series, “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.” Each novel was a compilation of various short stories involving ghosts, ghouls, and creepy scarecrows, among other creatures. Following the books’ publication and after years cultivating a wide fanbase, Schwartz’s stories are being brought to life courtesy of one of the masters of genre filmmaking, Guillermo del Toro.
The latest trailer for “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” provides a deeper context in the tales of Schwartz. Produced by Oscar Winner and creature creator Guillermo del Toro, André Øvredal (“The Autopsy of Jane Doe) directs this frightening adaptation centered on a group of teens as they discover the dark stories hidden in the pages and home of a girl with, “horrible secrets.” While the first collection of teasers offered a quick look at the illustrations of artist Stephen Gammell being brought off the page and realized onto the screen, the narrative wasn’t readily established. Now Øvredal, del Toro, and company are ready to bring the scares in the last few weeks of summer.
Here’ is the latest trailer and official synopsis:

It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
