Got a Tip?

Scarlett Johansson & Chris Pratt Revealed To Be Among The Cast Of Spike Jonze’s ‘Her’

Scarlett JohanssonAfter months of virtual silence on Spike Jonze‘s long-awaited next film “Her,” there’s been a relative flurry of activity in the last 24 hours. The sci-fi romance, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as a man who falls in love with his operating system, has been under radars until now, but hot on the heels of the announcement that the film’s release date, Warner Bros have spilled the beans on two previously unrevealed cast members on the project (which shot last year).

According to the studio, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt are both in the cast, joining Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Samantha Morton and Olivia Wilde. For Johansson, it’s the latest smart choice on the top of Jonathan Glazer‘s “Under The Skin” and Jon Favreau‘s “Chef” to counterbalance her superheroic duties on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “The Avengers 2,” while it’s another marker in the ascendance to stardom for Pratt.

The actor’s spent the last couple of years balancing brilliant comedy in “Parks & Recreation” with more serious fare in “Moneyball” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” Now, it seems like A-list stardom isn’t far off; he’s got what seems to be a scene-stealing role in “The Delivery Man” with Vince Vaughn, and will headline two major blockbusters in 2014, as the voice of the lead in Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s “The Lego Movie,” and as main character Star-Lord in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” We reckon both should fit in with Jonze nicely, and it only increases our anticipation for the film, which opens on November 20th, more.

  1. Jesus! Stop fixating upon whose a STAR and whose a SUPER-STAR and whose a SUPER-SUPER-SUPER-DUPER STAR. For one thing, a supporting role in a Spike Jonze film in which Phoenix fucks a computer ISN'T going to put Pratt on the A-List. For another, isn't it just good enough that Pratt is doing strong work in film and TV and raising his profile? Do you have to be so obsessed with the star system that EVERY actor is categorized on his status, not the quality of his or her work?

  2. She'll need more than that to redeem herserlf… and there's also Lucy by our dear Luc Besson. Haha. Hope she'll be more than a guest in Her, and that Under The Skin will be good (Birth was so great !).
