Seriously, this is ridiculous. Is Sam Worthington (upcoming soon-to-be, starmaking roles in “Avatar” and “Terminator Salvation”) going to be in every geek-minded project from here on out for the rest of his life? Perhaps he should give James Cameron, who basically approved him for the rest of time, a 15% cut.
Yet another name has been thrown into the “Green Lantern” hat. Soon-to-be star Sam Worthington has revealed he is a serious contender for the project: “I’ve been talking to Martin Campbell about it. It’s one of those things where they’re still doing the script. I said, ‘Give me a script. Let me have a look at it.’ I like Martin a lot. I met him on the Bond stuff, and I like his work, but the second step is, ‘Is it a movie that I’d go and see?'”
This link actually has a little merit: a) Worthington was one of three actors who was in serious contention for the role of James Bond in Campbell’s “Casino Royale” (the other two being eventual winner Daniel Craig and Henry Cavill) so Campbell must like him already; and b) The film is supposed to be filming in Worthington’s home country of Australia later this year. Here’s a little red carpet interview of James Cameron talking a bit about “Avatar” and Worthington’s performance and future. Cameron was attending an Australians In Film event to present Worthington with the Breakthrough award. On stage, Cameron reportedly revealed: “We were making a $200 million-plus movie and it’s all about the journey of one guy, Jake, and he’s in every scene in the film, from beginning to end. It all hangs on that one piece of casting.” He then told the story of his first encounter with the actor – an audition tape with a scene in which Worthington has one line, “Uh huh.” “Sam had me at ‘Uh huh,’ He’s an old-school tough guy, and that’s what I needed for this film.” It’s not like Cameron could say a bad word on Worthington’s night but still Cameron’s record speaks for itself: DiCaprio, Winslet, Weaver, Schwarzenegger. Dude, knows how to make ’em. [Oh No They Didn’t/LA Times]
Nobody knows who the fuck Sam Worthington is, and he’s like, “Hm, playing a superhero in a megamillion dollar franchise everyone will see? I’ll sleep on it.” That’s one amazing fucking agent.
We in the US dont know who he is but he had been around in Australia. And from his performance in Terminator: Salvation, I am a fan already.
Sam does not know it yet but he is part of Destiny. He was born in the year of the Fire Dragon for a reason. In a larger context, Sam made a prophetic statement in Terminator: Salvation: "I am your only hope."
Sam, that was no accident.
Wow, that's the most hilarious comment over posted on our site, congratulations.
