Sacha Baron Cohen has teamed up with with some of the biggest comedy players in Hollywood to help pitch his next project around town.
Deadline Hollywood reports that the comedian, along with former “Seinfeld” writers/producers and current “Curb Your Enthusiasm” executive producers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel, are making the rounds to the studios to pitch a new comedy film. That’s a pretty heavy list of comedic talent, and the project, if a studio bites, is expected be on the expensive side.
Cohen has fairly been selective with his roles around Hollywood and a new film with the star, based on his own idea might be attractive bait for a studio. While “Bruno” is often referred to as a “failure” compared to “Borat,” the film did take in nearly $140 million worldwide on a budget of $42 million. So, it was certainly profitable and an indication that Cohen’s appeal is far from diminished.
Apparently, there are some jumbled loglines floating out there that Mike Fleming is trying to sort, but if anyone wants to shoot us something definitive our way first, that would be very nice, high five!
