The only sequel we’re looking forward to less than “Midnight Run 2,” is “Men In Black 3.” The sequel to the 2002 hit film (yep, that’s right, it was eight years ago) won’t feature Tommy Lee Jones, but has managed to ensnare Josh Brolin into its tentacled arms for a rumored part.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Columbia Pictures are now looking to lock down a co-star for Brolin and Will Smith, and Sacha Baron Cohen and Flight Of The Conchords’ Jemaine Clement are the front runners. While these are sort of dream casting choices for the studio our immediate reaction is that Cohen seems like a long shot. The actor has been very selective with his Hollywood roles and we don’t see him joining the third film of a franchise unless he has carte blanche with the role. Clement seems like a more likely, and financially friendly, choice though his unfamiliarity with middle America may be a stumbling block.
The film has a script by Etan Cohen (“Tropic Thunder”) in the can that will feature Smith’s Agent J traveling back in time to meet Brolin’s Agent K. The film was originally rumored to start filming this spring, though with the studio still trying to lock down casting and a director, this is probably still has a little ways to go before it gets in front of cameras.
it's Jemaine, not Jermaine.
Will Smith is still involved.
Josh Brolin is supposed to play a younger version of Agent K who J meets when he travels back in time.
I would like to see a buddy-type film with JUST Clement and Baron Cohen.
So many unanswered questions left over from Men in Black 2…
