We hope some promotions and pay raises went on around the Warner Bros. marketing department because the studio completely turned around sentiment on the upcoming “Green Lantern.” After a dreadful first trailer — which even the studio admitted was a misfire — they finally dropped a new look in some fresh, and much more well received footage at WonderCon. The creature designs looked good and the special effects popped, and while there are minor quibbles — the CGI mask still looks pretty bad — overall it was a major step forward.
But nothing exemplifies the difficulty in marketing “Green Lantern” more than this latest batch of pics of Ryan Reynolds in full costume. Because as much as that new footage was a big improvement, at the end of the day, Green Lantern was always kind of a dorky looking hero. All dressed in green with his power ring shooting green…stuff…everywhere — this kind of looks like the back of a cereal box. His legs and Vibram finger toe shoes feet look especially strange. But of course, the movie will probably have Reynolds zipping around while in costume most of the time so it probably won’t be so much of an issue. But, still, these pics? Meh.

I think the overall look of this is excelent !
Change the costume to all black from waist down and have a very dim green shade to the edges. Don\’t show his feet like this…

@Paris, 99.9% of the public hasn\’t seen Smallville or The Green Hornet, so no worries.
Seriously, though, how do calf-high leather boots make any more sense in a skintight superhero costume than \”Vibram toes\”, whatever those are?
If this film came on tv for free right now I probably wouldn\’t even watch it.
looks more like \”green stockings with x-ray effect\”, vibrams look a lot cooler…
When The Green Lantern is released, the public will be bewildered between it, The Green Hornet and the Green Arrow from Smallville.
