Ryan Reynolds has to be one of the busiest men in Hollywood. Over the past year, a number of new projects have been announced with Reynolds in the lead and it appears that he’s keeping that going with yet another new film, “Upstate.” (Alas, none of those projects he’s currently lined up include the word “Deadpool” in the title.)

According to Deadline, Reynolds is set to co-write the upcoming comedy film, “Upstate,” alongside John August. Netflix, as it often does, is already on board as a distributor of the feature, with Reynolds in line to star in the eventual film. Though we have a title, the exact plot of “Upstate” is kept under wraps for now. August and Reynolds previously worked together on the film, “The Nines,” back in 2007.
As mentioned, “Upstate” is just one of several major films and TV projects that Reynolds is currently developing. He’s also set to star in projects such as a “Dragon’s Lair” adaptation, a “Clue” remake, a time-travel film with Shawn Levy, a monster film with Lord & Miller, and even a Quibi series with Samuel L. Jackson. And those are just future projects. Let’s not forget he’s set to appear in upcoming features “Free Guy” for 20th Century Studios and “Red Notice” on Netflix. And even though nothing has been officially announced, we can only assume a “Deadpool” film is somewhere in the mix.

In addition to “The Nines,” August is also a screenwriter that has collaborated with Tim Burton on a number of projects including “Big Fish,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Corpse Bride,” and “Dark Shadows.” In addition, his most recent project was the new “Aladdin” remake at Disney. He’s also the writer for the upcoming “Grease” prequel film, “Summer Loving.”
Obviously, there’s no release date set for the Netflix feature, “Upstate.” Clearly, Reynolds has a full slate ahead of him, so it all depends on where this film falls in that schedule. But it does appear that we’ll have a lot of Ryan Reynolds goodness in our future.
