Last month, Ryan Gosling and Guillermo del Toro got together at SXSW to talk about the actor’s directorial debut, "Lost River" (check out our report right here). During that talk it was revealed that Gosling and del Toro met a few years before to talk about a project, and though they didn’t disclose which one, maybe we have our answer.
The Wrap reports that Gosling is in talks to star in del Toro’s long developing "Haunted Mansion" for Disney. The movie has been in the works since 2010, and it’s been one the director has been eager about. "It’s going to be scary. Hopefully it will be fun scary, rather than funny scary. It’s going to be fun but the idea is to make it scary like when you go through the ride as the kid — part of you is charmed and part of you wants to get out of there," he told us in 2013.
No word yet on when this might lens, but this will be a family movie, with a script from D.V. DeVincentis (“High Fidelity”). For now, you can see Gosling’s decidedly un-family friendly "Lost River" now on iTunes on in cinemas tomorrow.
I thought something like this would happen after I saw those photos of Gosling and del Toro hanging around Disneyland together.
Didn\’t Disney already make this movie with Eddie Murphy? I\’m so sick of remakes and movies based on theme park rides. This is the kind of dreck studios will spend the big bucks on. Sad.
Wait, didn\’t Guillermo just make a haunted house movie?
