To the delight of hardcore fans, Spider-Man is back in the hands of Marvel, but thanks to labyrinthine contractual technicalities, Sony can still exploit the character, and they will do so with their own animated movie slated to hit in 2018, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller as producers (and possible directors). Meanwhile, Marvel is eager to quickly integrate Peter Parker into their cinematic universe. It’s widely expected that he’ll pop up in next year’s "Captain America: Civil War," setting the path for a standalone movie in 2017, leading to the character’s participation in the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War." So in a way, this next bit of news makes a lot of sense.
Latino Review is hearing that the standalone movie will be called "Spider-Man: The New Avenger." Evidently, the previously considered title was "The Spectacular Spider-Man," which following "The Amazing Spider-Man," seems uninspired. This new moniker will certainly let audiences know that this latest incarnation differs from the renditions featuring Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, and suggests that Marvel isn’t going to waste a moment in making the character a key figure in its cinematic universe.
But again, this is all rumor. Production is gearing up on ‘Civil War’ which means casting the new, high-school age, "non-stop wit" Spider-Man will have to be finalized soon.
"Spider-Man: Whatever It’s Called" arrives on July 28, 2017.
It\’s still Sony Pictures Spider-Man: The New Avenger. They are working with Marvel, and the only deal for Spider-Man, so far, is that he\’ll appear in 1 MCU film, CAP 3: Civil War before starting his own franchise for Sony Pictures. Sony still has all creative control whenever they want, but they seem to be playing nicely with Marvel and letting them fix some of their mistakes, while still using the MCU success to create more interest in their (Sony) franchise.
It\’s working very well so far, as many already believe Marvel has control, but unfortunately the character of Spider-Man is still, ultimately, in shady hands. All we can do is hope for the best until Sony Pictures decides "we don\’t need Marvel anymore" and then it all crashes and burns for the 3rd time
Given that Age of Ultron ends with the training of new Avengers, sure… why not?
Because both are filled with shit?
Hollywood does love its colons.
