Got a Tip?

Rogue Cut From ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’; Baron Von Strucker Rumored For ‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

X-Men 2 Anna Paquin

Even with the Avengers-izing of comic movies now de rigeur in Hollywood, it was bound to happen that with all the characters squeezed into Bryan Singer‘s “X-Men: Days Of Future Past,” some of those cameos and appearances wouldn’t make the final cut. And indeed, the first casualty from the movie has been revealed.

Catching up with EW, Singer brought for the news that Anna Paquin‘s Rogue won’t be seen in the upcoming crossover sequel. “Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” the director told the magazine. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Singer adds that it had nothing to do with Paquin’s work and everything is cool beans between them, it’s just that her role didn’t fit with the movie that’s now taking shape in post-production. Fair enough, and it’s nice to know Singer isn’t being precious about the cameos and trying to make the movie work as an organic whole.

But from one character removed to another potentially added, Latino Review is reporting that Baron Von Strucker will feature in “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.” So who is this guy? Let’s turn to Wikipedia for the lowdown on this villain:

Baron Strucker, a former Nazi officer, is one of the leaders of HYDRA and an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and the interests of the United States of America and of the free world in general. He has been physically augmented to be nearly ageless. He has been seemingly killed in the past only to return to plague the world with schemes of world domination and genocide, time and time again.

Adding to the intrigue is the site’s claim that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be working for the Baron, and that Marton Csokas and Dougray Scott are a couple actors that “Marvel has shown interest in.” Anyway, something to think about before Joss Whedon’s film hits on May 1, 2015.
