Got a Tip?

Roger Deakins Surprises No One By Winning The Top 2020 ASC Award For 1917

In a result that was preordained, Roger Deakins took his fifth competitive ASC Award for a Theatrical Release. It turned out to be the second big win of the night for “1917” after director Sam Mendes won the DGA Award. This was Deakins’ second win in the past three years from the American Society of Cinematographers after he won in 2018 for “Blade Runner: 2049,” the film he also won his first Oscar for. He’s expected to take his second Academy Award for the almost one-shot period piece on Feb. 9.
