RIP Brittany Murphy: 1977-2009

Actress Brittany Murphy passed away earlier this morning after going into cardiac arrest at the L.A. home of her screenwriter husband, Simon Monjack.

Discovered unconscious in the shower by her mother, paramedics arrived after a 911 call at 8:00 AM and administered CPR on-site and en route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The actress was later pronounced dead on arrival at 10:04 AM. She was 32 years old. The L.A. Police are currently investigating the cause of death.

Murphy landed her first role at the age of 14 in “Drexells Class” but got her big break in 1995’s teen-comedy “Clueless” along side Alicia Silverstone. From there, the actress rose to star in such films as “Girl, Interrupted,” “Don’t Say A Word,” “8 Mile,” “Just Married,” “Sin City,” “Happy Feet” and was recently cast in Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” only to be later written out. Her last completed films include “Abandoned” with Dean Cain and the titular role in “Shrinking Charlotte.”

Murphy was also a talented musician joining Paul Oakenfold for the hit dance single “Faster Kill Pussycat” as well as covering Queen’s “Somebody To Love” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland” for the “Happy Feet” soundtrack.
