Got a Tip?

Update: Ridley Scott’s ‘Robin Hood’ Won’t Go 3D

With “Avatar” confirming that if you dazzle them, they will come, Hollywood suits are stumbling over themselves trying to cash in on what they hope will be the next big trend in the moviegoing experience.

Update: Universal has confirmed to us that this report is BS. The London Times are not the New York Times, that’s for sure. As you were.

The rumors that were floating around that Ridley Scott was going to do a last minute re-tool on his forthcoming “Robin Hood,” have been confirmed, as Universal has handed the director an additional $8 million dollars in order to immerse the audience in Sherwood Forest, at least according to the London Times Online. Frankly, it sounds a little desperate to us and it seems a little odd to try and work your action sequences backwards to fit them into a 3D aesthetic, but maybe it will make watching the film tolerable.

We would be skeptical about this reports claims that Peter Jackson wants to turn the “Lord Of The Rings” films into a 3D film. It does make sense and Jackson has suggested this is something he’d like to do, but since the rest of their report is BS, we’re going to stay non-believers for now.

  1. "Cameron can get away with it because he's first out of the gate…" Right, I forgot. Avatar was the first movie to ever be released in 3-D.

That Cameron, he's was just in the right place, at the right time.
