That Ridley Scott has many, many things he's attached to is nothing new, and it seems every few weeks brings with it another gig he's producing or possibly directing, or in this case, an update to a movie that has been cooking on a slow simmer for years.
Deadline reports that "All You Need Is Kill" writer D.W. Harper (also the scribe behind the upcoming "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters") has been hired to take the latest stab at "The Forever War," with the project set up over at Fox 2000. Based on the book by Joe Haldeman, this one has been moving along with Scott since at least 2008, and tells the action packed tale of humans fighting an alien race, only to discover that a tremendous amount of time has passed when they return to Earth.
Of course, if/when this gets made is anyone's guess, but considering it's now back to script stage, there is probably still a long way to go. And we don't have to remind you that once "The Counselor" is done, Scott has two mega franchises waiting for him with followups to "Prometheus" and "Blade Runner" both in the offing. And of course, the 5000 other things he may or may not do. So yeah, we'll see.
Great news, absolutely LOVED Prometheus and I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment and his Blade Runner sequel, ah, good times! Ridley is the man.
