Given the recent news that Ridley Scott‘s next movie (unless he squeezes in something else, which we doubt) is basically “Prometheus 2,” which is set to to arrive in 2016, it’s easy to forget that the busy filmmaker has one coming this year. And it’s a different flavor than than sci-fi sequel, or last year’s grim, talky “The Counselor.” It’s the Biblical tale “Exodus,” and it’s getting a title change.
HitFix reveals that the movie, not content with a single word as the title, has now added a subtitle, becoming: “Exodus: Gods And Kings.” It does sound weightier we suppose, which makes sense given all this one brings to the table. Scott has assembled another all-star cast—Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro and Sigourney Weaver—in a movie that will chronicle the many adventures of Moses, from bringing down the ten commandments to parting the Red Sea. It’ll hit theatres on December 12th.
Meanwhile, perhaps not content to just have a cluttered directorial workload, Scott has also signed on to produce “A Better Place,” the latest script from “Out Of The Furnace” scribe Brad Ingelsby (Scott was also a producer on ‘Furnace’). There are no plot details for this latest screenplay, though Deadline says it’s a “gritty thriller” in the ballpark of “A Simple Plan.” The search is on right now for a director, and we’ll keep you posted.
Either Exodus OR Gods and Kingsâ¦.not both!
Ridley's still got it. The Counselor was a great film, and Prometheus was visually stunning. I'm looking forward to this–or maybe to the expanded edition on DVD!
Seriously. Why add a coloned subtitle to a film you are not expecting to have sequels? I understand Master and Commander : Far Side of the World did it, but they actually wanted a franchise. I think the title is stupid now. I should be plain Exodus. If they want to subtitle it, why not just go with Kingdom of Heaven: Gods and Kings, cause that's where this film is headed. Calling no good right now. The new image of Bale fighting in Roman armor is laughably bad.
I still think he's making a reggae movie
Blasphemy! There is only one God.
"Gods & Kings" was the title of the Moses pic Spielberg was attached to, which was presumably shuttered when this went into production.
He lived a life and then some. …love it ..hah
