Back in November, Ridley Scott met with members of the Australian press to talk about "Alien: Covenant" which he would be shooting in the country. He teased that Michael Fassbender would have dual roles in the film, and said that Noomi Rapace would be back as well, albeit in a "minor role." However, as the picture gears up to start shooting this year, it seems there’s no more room for the actress.

Chatting with Baz Bamigboye, when asked if Rapace would be returning, Scott confirmed she wouldn’t be, adding, "We’re still casting the main roles."
It’s probably a fair bet that the story for "Alien: Covenant" just has no place for Elizabeth Shaw, and likely picks up many years after the events of "Prometheus." Focusing as it does on the crew of a new colony ship, Covenant, who stumble across David (Fassbender), whatever role Rapace might’ve had I can only presume were some kind of prologue or flashback scenes.
Katherine Waterston is the only other confirmed cast member for "Alien: Covenant," though as Scott says, there’s much more news to come.
"Alien: Covenant" opens on October 6, 2017.
